image Dia Duit. Hello.

This is a Blog about collecting Irish Stamps and to a lesser extent Irish Postcards, Irish Coins and Irish Phonecards.

I live in County Armagh in Ireland. I have been collecting stamps for over fifty years. In 1970, I decided to concentrate on the stamps of Ireland and over the next three decades, my collection became more specialised. I collect Mint and Used Stamps of Ireland, Miniature Sheets, First Day Covers, Propaganda Stamps, “Northern Ireland Regionals” and Irish-themed stamps issued by other countries.

Around 1990, I started to collect modern Irish Postcards. Initially this was intended to compliment the stamps. In 1998, I became connected to the Internet and became interested in American Postcards.

In the early 1990s Telecom Eireann started issuing Phonecards for use in phone boxes. This led to a short-lived collecting craze.

I suppose it was inevitable that I would become interested in Coins. Primarily this is about “preservation”. I think that currency changes…Sterling, Decimalisation, Euro are all related to Stamps. I suppose it is about Coin “gathering” rather than “collecting”.

I became very disenchanted with Stamp Collecting in 2001 and completely abandoned the hobby for over ten years. I returned to collecting in March 2012. And I have been trying to catch up with the issues that I missed.

This Blog will in part be about the progress I am making.
