My Postcard Collection: USA

My USA Postcard collection is almost accidental and probably a direct result of going “online” for the first time in 1998.

It was inevitable that I would exhange postcards with new friends in Rhode Island, Washington, Tennessee and Texas.

And it was inevitable that having watched American TV and listened to Amerian music from the late 1950s, many names like Las Vegas, Route 66, Memphis and Nashville resonate with me. More so because I never actually visited United States until 2013.

And of course I am a lifelong student of American history…so Gettysburg, Alamo, Little Big Horn and Fort McHenry have special meaning to me.

FACEBOOK has been a help in arranging informal trades with other collectors.

This is my American Collection as of 9th January 2016.

I like State Flags, Maps and Capitols. And views of the major cities and sports stadia. I love the way that all States haveĀ something historic or cultural…for example I have a postcard from Mount Rushmore in South Dakota and the National Railroad Museum in Wisconsin.
