Below is the Stamp Programme for 2016. This year is a big one in Ireland. It is the Centenary of the Easter Rising which proclaimed the Republic. From an Irish perspective , it is the most important event in a Decade of Centenaries. On my other (History related) Blog site, I have consistently doubted that the Decade of Centenaries can appeal to all sides on the island of Ireland.

Perhaps the most interesting thing is that the new definitive series will be sixteen designs related to the Centenary. These will, I understand be SOAR (Stamps on A Roll) which will initially at least be available in “national” rate in the Philatelic Bureau. There will also be two booklets at “national” and “international” rate.
Disappointingly these stamps are being issued in less than three days and…as yet…no information is available on the websire of An Post.
I hope to be in Dublin on Thursday but I am suffering from a bad chest infection. My wife not sympathetic, thinks it is just Man Flu.
One other thing to notice from this programme is that there is no planned issue for the Olympic Games.
