New Issues 2017: Part One

These are the new Irish definives (mint) which were issued on Thursday 12th January. They were purchased at the Philatelic Counter at the General Post Office in Dublin. There are eight “Stamps on a Roll” (SOAR) which should be available at machines in all post offices but as at 11.15am on Thursday were not available in machines at the General Post Office. It would have been nice to pick up some in unusual values but the machines were still using Easter Rising “SOAR” designs.

There are two designs in coil rolls. They alternate thru roll and the value is shown as “N” ((national rate). A national rate booklet with ten stamps (one design showing “N” value) and an international rate booklet with ten stamps (one design showing “W” value) were also issued.

As at 12th January 2017, the national rate of postage is €0.72 and the international rate of postage is €1.10. Increased rates have been announced but will not take effect until (I think) April 2017.

The stamps which I posted to myself on Thursday arrived today (Saturday). So I now have mint and used stamps.image
