New Issues 2018: May

Few issues in May 2018.

The annual Europa issue features Bridges (two stamps). A single stamp showing Piobairí Uileann (Uileann Pipes) and a single stamp showing the 1400th Death Anniversary of St Kevin were also issued.

There are no issues planned for June.

    The bridges look good.

I really hate annual “Europa” issues. In the 1960s CEPT (its the European Organisation of Postal Administrations) chose a design by (say) a Belgian or a Dane and it was used by all the member states. For several years now, there has been a common theme….this year Bridges. I cant recall others except “Childrens Toys” a few years back. (I liked that one) and “Circus” (I didn’t lik)e that
But I think that its been going on for 50 years and nobody seems to be able to say “STOP!!!!”
They are running out of ideas.

I must admit that I wouldn’t like something forced on me either. Surprising, except for stamps of the Queen, we’ve pretty much been left on our own–but then again, being new at this, I might be rather naïve.
